This idea that people “need” cringe culture in order to “learn” how to be worth respecting also reeks of the same bullshit abusers say day in and day out.
People don’t “need” to be hurt in order to learn or grow. If something isn’t workplace appropriate, you bring up why it’s not workplace appropriate (i.e. fandom clothing is generally not considered professional, so they’d need to follow the dress code. Talking about fanservicey anime might not be appropriate either, due to it leaning on sexual jokes or what not – if someone tried talking to me about Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, I wouldn’t say “ugh that shit’s gross and dumb so you’re gross and dumb for liking it” I’d say “I don’t feel comfortable talking about this at work” or something similar.
Cringe culture is inherently abusive because it’s based on abusive control tactics. I’d 100% prefer happy, healthy and safe people who are mind numbingly obnoxious to people who seem to have good manners on the surface but are spending so much energy policing themselves that they can’t let anyone in ever again.

Okay so for the people who don’t know, the problem with SuperWhoLock wasn’t that they were fans. It was that they became aggressive and hostile to other people because they considered their fandom superior.
And that was it. Hell, that terrible trait didn’t exactly go away, just the whole ‘Summon the Fandoms!’ trend vanished as Tumblr became increasingly hostile to people IN fandoms, in very strange ways.
Cringe Culture and the Woke-based hostility you’re talking about are really just two sides of the same shitty coin, the root of the problem in both cases being that the increasing mainstream status of fandom has caused abusers to crop up in ever larger numbers to ruin the experience for everybody. The only real difference between Cringe Culture spreaders bullying people for liking things and Purity culture freaks who never shut up about “”“problematic”“” behavior is how much they’re willing to just be honest that they’re an asshole who hates other people liking things they don’t.
Every time I think about the entry level job paradox my head feels like it’s gonna explode.
Whenever I think about all the people that didn’t hire me to be a busser because I didn’t have any restaurant experience even though it’s the lowest ranking job in the restaurant I feel a dangerous urge to strangle a hiring manager.
Some internships ask for experience. Internships. You know. The places you’re supposed to get experience? Those things? I wanna eat a door.
Quite frankly I don’t know how anyone gets into any industry. Any of them. Office workers must just spawn like minecraft mobs or something.
Nepotism and affirmative action, perhaps. As for why hiring standards are so ridiculous? A lack of manufacturing jobs in America and an ever-rising population, which lets service-and-retail industry employers be VERY picky about who they hire.
Being competent at hiring would create illegal disparities.
Also, padding the “required experience” section means you can truthfully claim that there are no qualified Americans for the position and you need H1B visas.

the government of Ivan Duque just has been in the process of passing a tax reform to collect around 25 billion Colombian pesos (around 6.5k billion usd) through taxes without raising the minimum wages; this would throw the country in an economic crisis that would impact the lower and middle classes and it would take products off the basic market basket.
the people of Colombia have been marching and protesting about this and the government has replied with police violence, they have their own anti-raid police, the ESMAD, and they have orders to shoot to kill, the process now has paused because of the protest.
there isn’t yet an exact number on the death count but what the people is sure of is that they’re gonna try to hide it along with the number of rapings and tortures the police has been conducting.

in 2019 chilean government rose the price of the metro/subway and there were protests and marches and manifestations, which led, of course, to policial repression, this was a whole ordeal that was condemned by the UN, now, the people is tired that the same government hasn’t dealt properly with the sanitary contingency so they starter planing a huge strike; dozens of worker unions planning to march on april 30th to show that they’re millions and they want the president out.
then the president was acused of crimes against humanity before the International Court of Human Rights for the repression of the 2019 protests…

well, if you haven’t heard about the venezuelan crisis, you’ve been living under a rock: it’s been going on for more than 20 years, venezuelan people live under a dictatorship (fucking incredible we still have those in the world), the police kills people that march and manifest, citizens don’t have dignified access to: public transport, gas and gasoline, electricity, food, water, medicine and medical equipment let alone the covid vaccine.
and when the venezuelan people wanna leave the mediocre and deplorable conditions in which their government had made them live? conditions in which if you don’t die of sickness, you get killed by a cop or killed in a robbery or killed on a raid? if you don’t die of hunger you die of thirst? they raised the passport prices! and so the venezuelan people as a lot of people in Latinoamérica have to illegally migrate; and we all know how that’s seen.
So, hello. I’m using my platform here now to inform about what’s happening in my country. I’m from Cali, Colombia. The city that’s been burning for 5 days now and being massacred by its own government.
We need your help to spread awareness on this. As of yet, there hasn’t been a lot of international news coverage about it, and our own news are too biased in favor of the government to be of any help.
How did it all start?
On April 28, a national strike was called for people to raise their voices against a tax and health reforms proposed by president Iván Duque, during an economic and social crisis exacerbated by the covid-19 pandemic.
Among other things, this reform wanted to tax us for funeral services (during a pandemic). They also wanted to increase the price of food and water, when most of the population has a salary that does not allow a family to live with dignity. Moreover, another nefastous health reform has yet to be taken down.
But the response of the national government to these protests has been to deploy military forces against the civilian population. A violent, disproportionate, and arbitrary action that incurs in serious human rights violations. My city, Santiago de Cali, has been one of the most affected places. During the night hours of the last few days, in different areas of the city, the police and the mobile anti-riot squad (ESMAD) have burst into peaceful demonstrations attacking with firearms, tear gas, and leaving a balance of dead and wounded that has not yet been counted. They have also captured many demonstrators, some of whose whereabouts are unknown.
My state is threatening the lives of the Colombian population in full view of the world. Please, don’t let them silence us!
guys things are getting worse, the situation is hell, cops are shooting inside the houses, throwing gases inside the public transport, they are dressep up as civilians turning people against each other telling them that the ones who are protesting are actually paramilitaries, they are killing, raping and disappearing people (children too) because that’s the order that has been given.
